Parker School Band Handbook

2008-2009 school year

 

Behavior

           

I.                   Follow rules stated in the 2008-2009 Parker School District Handbook.

II.                No throwing any objects.

III.             No gum, food, candy, or drinks except water in the classroom.

IV.             Student is expected to be in their chair with their instrument, music, stand, and pencil by the time the bell rings.

 

Consequences

 

I.                   Verbal warning of their action and if the behavior persists explain the consequence of the students’ action.

II.                If behavior problem happens again during that class period student will be sent to the Principal or Superintendent Office and a call or email to their parent/guardian explaining behavior and consequence.

III.             After third Saturday Detention student will be expelled from band for the remainder of the year.

 

Grading

 

I.                   Pep Band

a.       Students are expected to be at every pep band performance unless there are extenuating circumstances or they are cheering or playing at a game then the student will be exempt.

b.      Each game is worth 20 points and if game is missed a zero will be put in the grade book until student makes the game up.

c.       Times will be announced during class and put on the board if students are late for the performance a point will be taken off for every minute they miss.

II.                Performances

a.       Performances include Marching Band performances, Concerts, Dinners, and Contests.

b.      Students are to be at every performance unless there are extenuating circumstances, which is known before the performance then the student will be exempt.  If a student misses the performance with out excuse a zero will be put in the grade book.  Each performance is

worth a 100 points.

c.       There will be no make up work for an unexcused performance.

Homework

I.                   Homework given will be due on the date and if late the student will be                                                                    given a zero.  See 2008-2009 Parker School District Hand book.

II.                There will be extra credit work through out the year.

 

Marching Band

I.                   Students are required to wear sturdy shoes to marching practice to prevent injuries.

II.                Students should wear appropriate clothing for all types of weather.  See 2008-2009 Parker School District Hand book.

III.             All Students are required to buy or borrow specific white marching shoes.  This will be discussed the first day of school.
